About Karen

Hello and welcome...

My name is Karen, and I'm here to share my personal journey through the transformative experiences of perimenopause/menopause and Hashimoto's disease. As a woman navigating these overlapping challenges, I've come to understand firsthand the complexities of hormonal changes, weight fluctuations, and the myriad of symptoms that can accompany these life changes.

How It Started...

In my early 40s, I noticed my hair was starting to fall out, I was gaining more weight than ever, and my skin was so dry. I felt cold when I really shouldn't be, and my energy level was nonexistent. Being a registered nurse and knowing my family history, I asked my doctor to draw labs, and he confirmed I had Hashimoto's Thyroiditis.

If you aren't familiar with this autoimmune disease, the simple description would be the body sees the thyroid as a foreign body and proceeds to attack it like it would an infection. While I was prescribe Synthroid, there is no mediation to fix the autoimmune piece. You can only manage the symptoms through lifestyle changes.

In my mid 40s, I started to notice the gradual onset of perimenopause, a time marked by unpredictable changes in my body and emotions. This added another layer of complexity to my wellness journey. The constant weight changes, energy dips, and various symptoms of menopause have certainly tested my resilience.

Through trial and error, research, and connecting with others in similar situations, I’ve discovered valuable strategies and insights for navigating this challenging phase of life. My mission is to share what I’ve learned, offer support, and create a space where we can explore effective ways to manage our health and well-being during this transitional period.

Whether you’re dealing with similar issues or just looking for understanding and support, I hope my experiences and tips provide you with inspiration and practical advice. Together, we can embrace these changes with confidence and find balance amid the chaos.

Thank you for joining me on this journey. Here’s to navigating perimenopause/menopause and managing Hashimoto’s with resilience and grace!
